As with nearly all other Thai visas, if you hold a Thailand Elite Visa, you must report the location of your residence to Thai Immigration every 90 days. This procedure is required of virtually all foreigners in Thailand whether you live here or not, and is known in the expat community as the “90-day reporting.”
The good news is that the Thailand Elite Visa offers you multiple convenient options for handling this reporting task that are not available to holders of other visas.
90-Day Reporting in Thailand
You are required to report in person to a Thai Immigration Office before 90 days have passed since your arrival in Thailand. If you leave the country before the 90-day period ends, the count resets, giving you another 90 days to report upon your next entry.
Thai Immigration allows you to report up to 15 days before your 90-day deadline or up to 7 days after without incurring a penalty. Missing this deadline results in a 2,000 THB fine when you finally go to do your report. But if you let it sit and authorities stop and check you for any reason and discover the missed report, then the fine increases to 5,000 THB. Repeated violations could jeopardize your visa status, with severe cases leading to deportation or blacklisting from re-entry.
Reporting in person involves:
- Going to an Immigration Office and obtaining a queue number.
- You will need to bring your passport, completed reporting form (available at Immigration), and supporting documents.
- Once your number is called, an Immigration officer will receive your reporting packet of documents, including your passport.
- You will then have to wait again for your report to be processed, after which your number will be called and you can collect your passport and report confirmation slip, which you must keep and use for your next report.
After you have completed an in-person report at least once and received a confirmation slip, you may use online or mail-in options for subsequent 90-day reports. However, these methods are often unreliable, and many prefer to report in person to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
90-Day Reporting as an Elite Visa Holder
Joining the Thailand Privilege program not only unlocks the Thailand Elite Visa, but also gives you access to a selection of free perks and convenient benefits. These include several privileges that make performing your 90-day report simple and convenient.
90-Day Report Application Drop-Off and Pick-Up Services
This service is free and open to all Thailand Privilege membership tiers. Instead of traveling all the way to the Immigration Office and waiting in line, you can instead travel to the Thailand Privilege office and leave your packet for them to handle. Here’s how you can leverage this service:
- Prepare your 90-day report application packet, including the completed reporting form, passport, supporting documents, and fee payment.
- Drop off your application at the Thailand Privilege office on Mondays between 08:30 and 16:30. Offices are located in Bangkok (Sathorn), Phuket, and Chiang Mai.
- Thailand Privilege staff will submit your report and collect the receipt and confirmation slip on your behalf.
- Return to the office on Friday of the same week to collect your passport and new confirmation slip.
Be aware that Thailand Privilege offices are government agencies, and thus, closed on national holidays. You can check the Thailand Privilege newsletter sent each month to all members to see that month’s drop-off and pick-up schedule.
Home Pick-Up and Delivery Service for your 90-Day Report
If you’d prefer to avoid visiting the Thailand Privilege office or leaving your home altogether, you can use the Thailand Privilege 90-day report home pick-up service.
You can contact the Thailand Elite Member Contact Center hotline to schedule a pickup. A courier will then collect your reporting packet directly from your home, and after processing, your passport and new confirmation slip will be delivered back to you.
While much more convenient, there is a small cost involved. The cost you pay will depend on your tier of Thailand Privilege membership:
- Bronze Members: Costs a small fee for each usage.
- Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani: 850 baht
- Phuket and Phang Nga (except Khao Lak): 1,500 baht
- Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Members: Available by redeeming 1 Privilege Point per usage.
- Reserve Members: Unlimited free uses for all Reserve members.
Gold, Platinum, and Diamond members can also choose to pay the Bronze member fee to utilize the 90-day report pick-up service if they have spent all their Privilege Points or wish to save them.
